A Day in Busan: A Well-Deserved Break After Culture Day
Following a busy start of semester filled with classes, rehearsals, sports day, and the excitement of Culture Day, the 18th SolBridge Student Council organized an excursion to Busan, giving students an opportunity to relax, explore, and enjoy time together beyond campus. From taking in the ocean views at Cheongsapo Daritdol Observatory to exploring the local food scene and capturing memories with friends, the trip offered a refreshing break from university life. The excursion reflected the values of SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, highlighting the importance of student well-being, shared experiences, and exploring the communities around us. Let’s look back at the trip through the perspective of Tomono Sakura, a Student Council Associate from Japan.
EXCURSION TO BUSAN:
TOMONO SAKURA
The
18th Student Council organized a trip to Busan, and as a Student Council
Associate, I helped with the arrangements along the way.
Before the excursion, we
had Culture Day, the biggest event of the semester. I took part as both a
country representative and a Student Council Associate, helping organize the
event. During the preparation period, it was challenging to balance my daily
practices and rehearsals with my classes. After such a busy time, I joined the
Busan excursion. Fortunately, our performance went well, so the trip felt like
a well-deserved reward for all our hard work.
On the day of the excursion, we left Daejeon by bus at 7:30 a.m. The journey to Busan took about three hours. Shortly after arriving, we headed to a photo spot and took some group pictures.
After that, everyone set off to explore Busan in their own way. My friend and I decided to visit a cozy restaurant near Haeundae Station, where we enjoyed a lovely brunch. I noticed that the area had more restaurants serving different cuisines than I usually see in Daejeon.
We then headed to Cheongsapo Daritdol Observatory, which is known for its beautiful ocean views and glass-floor deck. Luckily, the weather was nice, and I could enjoy the view from the deck. I had hoped to see a Japanese island from there, but the haze made it impossible. The area was bustling with people enjoying the scenery and visiting to ride the capsule train. My friend and I tried to take some nice photos, but the wind was so strong that my hair was dancing in every picture. Beneath the deck, we found a rocky shore and a bench where we sat and relaxed for a while.
Before
leaving Busan, we stopped at a photo booth to take pictures together and keep a
memory of the excursion. The photo booth was so pretty, and it was the perfect
way to end our day. Our other friends explored Busan in their own ways. Some
visited Gamcheon Culture Village, while others tried a famous local dish,
dwaeji-gukbap.
After
the busy Culture Day preparations, it was wonderful to relax in Busan, enjoy
the sea views, and feel the ocean breeze. I really enjoyed the excursion. There
are still so many things I would like to do there, such as trying fresh seafood
and riding the capsule trains, so I hope to visit Busan again!
