2026 Woosong Sports Day: A Reminder to Why I Love Being a SolBridger
SolBridge International School of Business joined the Woosong University Sports Days 2026 on October 7-8, bringing students together for two days of competition, school spirit, and unforgettable memories at the Woosong Green Field. From the opening parade celebrating the university’s international community to exciting matches, team victories, and the Water Bomb Festival, the event highlighted the values of SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through physical activity, teamwork, and community connection. Beyond the competitions, Sports Day was a reminder of the friendships and shared experiences that make university life special. Let’s look back at the event through the perspective of Bhuiyan Toufiqul Islam, a second-year MSc student from Bangladesh.
If you walk into the SolBridge building on any given day, chances are you’ll find us deep in case studies, crunching financial models, or debating global market entry strategies, etc. We live in spreadsheets, presentations, and tight deadlines. But on October 7 and 8, 2026, the charts and boardrooms took a back seat and the entire school gathered up for celebrations.
The Woosong Green
Field transformed into the epicenter of campus energy for the Woosong
University Sports Days 2026, and honestly? It was the exact reminder we
needed of what makes our community so electric.
From 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM over two packed days, the academic intensity shifted into pure adrenaline. Standing on the sidelines, watching our colors and our people show up, a deep wave of pride hit me, a feeling every student, whether a senior or brand-new freshman, deserves to experience here.
More Than Just a Game: The Opening Parade
The energy kicked off right away on October 7 with the Opening Parade. If you’ve never seen a Woosong opening ceremony, it’s like a vibrant microcosm of the United Nations.
Seeing all of us
international students march across the field proudly carrying their national
flags alongside our peers was surreal. It’s one thing to talk about
"global diversity" in a lecture hall as a concept; it’s another thing
entirely to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with friends from dozens of different
countries, all unified under one campus spirit.
Sweat, Strategy, and SolBridge Grit
The energy across the competitions was unmatched. Both Men’s Basketball & Football was full of fast-paced, high-stake matches where every possession felt like a championship final and the support from the sidelines was deafening. We ended up lifting the trophy for football and clutched a hard earned third place in basketball. Solbridgers made their voice heard from the sidelines throughout every single game and lifted up the spirit of our team and our cheerleaders led from the front to build that momentum up.
Watching our teams lock in tug of war, dig their heels into the Woosong Green Field, and pull in absolute unison showed that our coordination and grit is unwavering. However, the 1,000M Track Relay Race was the ultimate test of stamina and we reigned supreme in that event. Hearing the roar of the crowd as the final runners sprinted down the home stretch gave everyone goosebumps.
It didn’t matter whether you were actively participating or screaming your lungs out from the sidelines; every inter-departmental match felt personal. We weren't just competing for medals, we were repping our departments, our hard work, and our collective identity.
The final attraction to wrap everything up was the Water Bomb Festival, and that was just the perfect ending to the event! The entire university came along together regardless of departments, chasing one another to shoot water guns and just sharing pure joy with one another. Solbridgers once again showed how unified a family we are, through making a human circle by holding each other’s hand while dancing with the music, and I am being dead serious that the circle was so big it covered half of the field.
What It Really Means
When you're grinding through a reputed international business school like SolBridge, the weeks can sometimes feel like a blur of exams, networking sessions, and career preparation. It’s easy, especially when you first arrive on campus, to feel like your university journey is defined solely by grades and deadlines. Events like The Woosong 2026 Sports Day, break those walls down. Sweating under the October sun, sharing laughs over missed plays, celebrating hard-fought victories, and feeling the pulse of hundreds of students moving as one reminded me why I chose this path. The perseverance, trust, and mutual support we saw on the field are the exact qualities that carry us through the tough semesters and forge friendships that last long after graduation.
Walking back into the building after the event wrapped up on October 8, the place felt a little different, everyone felt a bit closer. We weren’t just classmates sharing lecture halls anymore; we were a tight-knit family.
Here’s to the grit, the global spirit, and the unmatched pride of being part of this community. Let’s Go SolBridge!
