Finding the Beauty of Tradition in the Heart of Seoul New
Angelyn Willianto, a fourth-year student at SolBridge International School of Business, shares her reflections on the recent excursion to Gwanghwamun Palace in Seoul. In this article, she describes her experience and impressions of visiting one of Korea’s most iconic historical sites.
Seoul is often described as a city where tradition and modernity coexist, and this is something I have always admired. The unique charm of Seoul lies in how it preserves its cultural heritage while continuously evolving as a modern global city. This contrast became especially clear to me during our visit to Gwanghwamun Palace.
The moment we arrived and stood facing the palace, I was immediately struck by the view. In front of me stood the grand and historic palace, rich with centuries of history. At the same time, just beyond it, I could see the modern architecture of Seoul, with tall buildings that reflect the city’s rapid development.
Located in the heart of Seoul, the palace
is also surrounded by natural scenery. In the distance, I could see the
mountains that frame the city, adding a sense of calm and balance to the busy
urban environment. The combination of historical architecture, modern city
life, and natural landscapes made the experience even more memorable.
This experience made me reflect on the harmony between the past and present of South Korea. It was both meaningful and enriching, allowing me to truly appreciate the unique blend of tradition and modernity. As this place has become a landmark for many visitors, I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the true essence of Seoul.
