SolBridge Hosts Summer Language Camp
SolBridge’s mission statement of “Educating the Next Generation of Asian Thought Leaders” manifests itself in many ways from Asian expertise and creative management to social responsibility. For 210 students from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan they also got to experience another part of the school’s mission statement—cross-cultural competence—by working on their English language skills during a three-week English Language Camp.
From July 14 to August 4, these students had 60 hours of intensive English classes which were taught by English Language instructors from the USA, Canada, England, New Zealand and Australia. Additionally, the language instruction was combined with various excursions to such places as Lotte World and Kyongbok Palace in Seoul and the Korean Folk Village in Suwon to give students a glimpse into Korean history and culture. Other excursions around Daejeon and Pusan rounded off their cultural experience while in Korea.
At the end of the academic program each team presented final video presentations about their time in Korea and the things they experienced. The presentations, which were judged by three members of the SolBridge faculty, were evaluated for their creativity, originality, and overall message. Out of 13 teams, 4 teams were selected and the winners received a 50% admission scholarship to SolBridge.
We would like to congratulate the winners and extend our thanks to all those who participated in this year’s successful summer language camps.
