Alumni Testimonials

I started as an office-manager in a new private high school after one month of graduation. I did not know what to expect from the job because I never thought that I would apply to work in a school. Even though they were not hiring at the moment, I was hired on a one-month trial basis. My first tip to SolBridgers after graduation is to be open-minded and be ready to work in any place. I would never have imagined the difficulty that one would have with carrying out administrative tasks in a school possibly because it was a new school. As a Business Administration Graduate, I started to see this opportunity as a start-up business: we were a small team of three people, who needed to prepare for a new intake of 150 high school students in less than a month. Also, I learned how to multi-task from being an office-manager, librarian, and even a teacher.

Secondly, be ready to work hard and don’t expect work to be comfortable. After the hard work, I was able to become Deputy Director of Administration in less than a year. I have also managed to enroll for a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Additionally, I am part of the admission committee for incoming students, where I interview potential students. My position allows me to be part of different decision-making processes such as finance, human resources, and academics. Therefore, my advice is to be ready for serious responsibilities. I am thankful for my experience in SolBridge because it was helpful in starting my career. I gained a valuable foundation needed in my career today.

Kyial Bostonova, BBA Graduate, 2016, Deputy Director of Administration. AUCA-Bilimkana highschool, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

Currently, I am working at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Advisory team. My duties include, but are not limited to analyzing market as well as client’s information to help the PwC professional team to make decisions. With PwC Advisory, no two projects are the same. Each engagement challenges you to your limits and ensures your rapid growth. In order to work here, you are required to take five tests, which test you in such areas as math, corporate finance, and case studies. Additionally, you have several interviews with top managers of the company. As you can notice, it was challenging just to be accepted into the company. However, I am more than happy that I made a right choice in choosing SolBridge four years ago. To be sure, studying at SolBridge improves you in many aspects. In my case, the diversity at SolBridge gave me the opportunity to make friends from all over the world; high-skilled faculty taught me the crucial and essential knowledge and skills that I use in my day-to-day life. Moreover, focusing on case studies improved my public speaking and unconventional way of analyzing things. My advice to upcoming graduates is quite simple; do not waste your time, try to focus on your real passion. People who pursue finance specialization must study CFA books to examine you and prepare you for the real world. Today’s world is changing rapidly and resolves around Information Technologies. No matter what specialization you would choose, 90% of new graduates would deal with Microsoft Office programs like Excel. Furthermore, knowing English today is not enough. While you are studying, endeavor to learn new languages. By languages, I mean both language and programming languages like SQL, VBA, Python or R. Otherwise, have fun and enjoy your time.

Nurzhan Serik, BBA Graduate, Spring 2016, PwC, Advisory team

I graduated from SolBridge International School of Business in the summer of 2016. I feel it is not necessary to describe the student life in SolBridge since it is different for every single student. What I can say for sure is that if anyone would take me back to the time when I just graduated from my high school, I would do everything the same way I did. I would not hesitate even for a moment to apply, and later on came to SolBridge. All students that study here have different backgrounds, come from different countries, speak various languages and of course, chase different dreams and goals. One might think, how to satisfy all these people who wait for unforgettable four years since it is expected to be the best time in your life. Well, SolBridge does know how. Everyone who comes here eventually finds what they are looking for. So did I. Apart from the strong education, high-qualified faculty and staff and friends from all over the world, I found myself. I was able to build my own personality and reveal hidden skills and talents. Due to my alma mater, I became more independent, confident and a determined person, which helps me a lot in my workplace. It is important to stay focused in the consulting sphere. Particularly if the company you work for is listed among the best audit companies worldwide. I am very proud to work for PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP) since I believe it is a significant step. For namely this reason, I thank SolBridge a lot for making the finishing touches in my personality. So, my advice goes not only to SolBridgers but SolBridge itself; keep doing this, my lovely university. You create far more than specialists, but bright individuals. And students; be more flexible, be open for changes, seek for every single opportunity and set up a goal. If you clearly understand what you really want, SolBridge will give everything to make your dream come true.

Ainura Sadykova, BBA Graduate, Spring 2016, PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP)

“SolBridge led me, a person who has never been abroad or experienced different cultures, to set her dreams on the international level. Professors from different countries taught me to have global perspectives and to be professional with global issues. Moreover, living with students from different countries and listening their ideas incentivized my dream to globalize. SolBridge trained me to accept challenges. Upon deciding to do Georgia Tech Dual Degree Program, I needed to take higher level classes and sustain a high GPA. In the meantime, I joined marketing competitions and worked as a teaching assistant. It was hard at first, but it taught me to manage time efficiently. By joining competitions, I found my competitive skills. By taking different classes, I found my interests. Consequently, I adjusted with ease at Georgia Tech; using my competitive skills, I graduated successfully and moved one step closer to my dreams.
I really appreciate my time at SolBridge, how they taught, led, and incentivized me. Thank you SolBridge!!!!!”

After I graduated from SolBridge, I am now working in a FinTech startup company in Gangnam in southern Seoul and also doing the program with SK Planet about UX/UI. The experience of studying in SolBridge definitely provided me a global perspective and solid knowledge background.

Zhuowen Peng, BBA Graduate, Spring 2016, FinTech, Gangnam, Seoul

I graduated in 2015 with a bachelor degree in International Business Administration. Currently, I am working for Microsoft’s Central and Eastern Europe Headquarters as a marketing communications manager. I manage B2B marketing for Microsoft technologies and software. If you are thinking to join SolBridge, I can share three facts with you as an alumnus.

First, I got hired by Microsoft right after graduation. From my own experience, you get to use those skills essential to go out and get a job at the world’s best international companies, even just after graduating from SolBridge. I loved the case study approach in the classes I took. They helped me to develop the necessary skills such as problem-solving, creative thinking, and analytical skills needed in today’s competitive job market.

Secondly, SolBridge is a one-stop institution for a worldwide international experience. There were great professors and students from over 30 countries during my 3-5 years I spent at SolBridge. Studying in such an international atmosphere, I learned how to interact with people from different cultures and made truly unique connections. So, instead of going to 30 different countries, you can study in at one place.

Lastly, the ability to have part-time work and participate in fun extracurricular activities while at SolBridge is another advantage. As a student, it is important to balance having fun and studying. Thanks to the various part-time job opportunities, I got to work as a resident assistant at SolGeo dormitory as a conference assistant during events. Also, there are amazing student clubs to join, or you can start your own. Personally, I love playing volleyball, so I founded and managed the volleyball club during my time at SolBridge. All these activities helped me make my university life fun and made my resume look solid after graduation.

Tolganay Urazgaliyeva, BBA Graduate, 2015, Marketing Communications Manager, Microsoft Kazakhstan.

Three and half years at SolBridge taught me many lessons that were core to my personal development skills. I was the president of Bowl-Bridge (Bowling Club) which taught me to manage an organization and gave me the opportunity to meet new friends from different countries and cultures. SolBridge academic courses not only taught me to manage time but also to prioritize important tasks. It also prepared me for my time at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The foundation of knowledge I received from SolBridge was integral in my success in the dual degree program. I graduated in May 2015 with a dual degree which helped me acquire a job in the US. My experience at SolBridge was unforgettable. I am glad to have met many friends and to have had new experiences like doing market research in both Indonesia and Vietnam. I enjoyed my time at SolBridge where I was able to broaden my professional and social network to multinational friends who will be invaluable connections in years to come.

Jin Kang, BBA Student, Fall graduate 2015, Korea, Working at Mercedes-Benz USA in Parts Logistics Department

My name is Stefan; I joined a double degree master program of SolBridge and Meiji University in Tokyo (Japan). I entered SolBridge in 2014; after one year, I moved to Japan for the second part of my master study.

I experienced SolBridge as a truly international business school as students are coming from many different countries and have various backgrounds. This sometimes made working/studying together challenging, but always interesting. In addition, SolBridge cares a lot about its students as there are many events and clubs organized by the university to mingle and meet new people. SolBridge also has partnerships with many foreign universities and offers many programs to go abroad. I once joined a global immersion program in Ho-Chi-Minh-City (Vietnam) and the double degree program described above.

After my graduation at Meiji University, I decided to stay in Japan where I am now working in finance department of Bosch, the world’s largest automotive parts supplier. Even though my time at SolBridge was comparably short, I really enjoyed the time spent there. And even today, I have the possibility to meet other former SolBridge students as there are several of them living in Japan right now. Thank you SolBridge!

Stefan Geiss, MBA Graduate 2015 (From Germany), Finance Department, BOSCH Japan

As a third culture kid who lived and grew up in Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Seoul before I enrolled in SolBridge, facilitated my quick adaptation to the multi-cultural environment. SolBridge provided a suitable environment whereby not only was I able to further develop my international experience within the community, but also guided me to advance a strong mindset in the understanding of different cultures. This would become an important experience to have if I work for multinational companies because of the need to communicate and work effectively with colleagues from around the world. As a former member of Student Council and Orientation Peer Group Leader, both opportunities enhanced my student life and equipped me with the good foundation in communication and leadership skills. I gained a lot of valuable knowledge from the international body of our faculty members through attending their lectures and classes. As for my career, I still foresee myself to be trying out different job opportunities. This will help to build up my resume. Despite the tough and competitive job market, I should not let go of the chances when I am young. Only after accumulating all the relevant years of various job experiences, I will then be able to decide what will be the most suitable career for me. Nevertheless, I will never forget how the three and a half years journey at SolBridge nurtured me to who I am today. I am definitely proud that I was a SolBridger.

The International Business program at SolBridge is a top-notch program for any student seeking an international and personal BBA experience. Being a part of SolBridge has made me a lifelong member of an international network of professors and great friends. It was a period of intense learning, but also a great deal of fun. Every student’s intellectual potential can be fully explored thanks to the rigorous training and constant mentorship through programs provided by SolBridge. I can’t say enough about the ongoing support I still receive from my former mentors and fellow classmates when I reach out for advice after graduating from the program. I currently utilize many of the skills I learned from the program in my profession as a Content Strategy Analyst and Acquisitions Executive at Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific's headquarters based in Singapore - a division of the leading global entertainment provider Discovery Communications. In a nut-shell, I currently curate programs and engage in business strategy development for Discovery's channels across Asia. Showcasing the skills and knowledge that I acquired from various programs along with extracurricular activities were what gave me an edge and ultimately led me to be where I am today. I would definitely recommend the BBA program at SolBridge because it’s a great opportunity for anyone who wants to succeed in business management at an international level.

Lahrissa Samijtiwong, BBA Graduate, Fall 2014, Contents Strategy and Acquisitions, Discovery Networks Asia Pacific

SolBridge is one place where I experienced an international multi-cultural environment as students, professors, faculty, and staff come from different parts of the world. Studying at SolBridge gave me the opportunity to enrich my personality as I learned about multi-cultural communication through respecting and living with people from different cultures.

I had precious moments at SolBridge that sharpened me before facing the real world after graduation. Currently, I am working at IBM at the IT Helpdesk. During my interview for this position, the recruiting manager mentioned to me they required a person with experiences from living in a multi-culture environment, which I had gained at SolBridge. With this exposure, I noticed that I was more aware and cautious when working with people from different countries as a way of avoiding conflicts and building relationships with them over time.  I am very grateful, and I am honored to have been part of the SolBridge both as a student and as an intern.

If you are looking for a multi-cultural experience, please join the SolBridge family. Besides, I strongly recommend to participate in the various activities offered at SolBridge, learn a new language (Korean or Chinese) or even work part-time. All these experiences are worthwhile.

Egeghaphasihh Rahtanasopol (Ake), MBA Graduate, 2013, IT Helpdesk, IBM, Malaysia, (August 2016 – Present)

Completing the business major in SolBridge provided me with a plethora of opportunities throughout the years with respect to school activities, organizational leadership, internship experience, market research, etc. I enjoy the way how SolBridge positions itself and SolBridge truly surprised me in aspects like the competitive and diverse student resource, dedicated faculty and staff members, plus widespread yet strong network. I was honored to receive the valedictorian honor in my graduation ceremony and what SolBridge brought to me was not just a paper of degree, it’s more like a lifetime impact in building my personal character. Following the graduation from SolBridge, I’ve completed my Master degree in HKUST School of Business, and I’m currently working for The Economist Group, the leading source of analysis on international business and world affairs. Branding and Marketing for 170+ years a western brand in China is not easy, but the multicultural environment and the analytical and practical skills that I acquired during those years in SolBridge have given me a wider breadth and marketability in the job market. It serves as an incredible asset to my everyday work now.

Jing Zhang, BBA Graduate, Fall 2013, Marketing Manager, The Economist Group

SolBridge is the place where I would like to be if I could turn back time. SolBridge taught and nurtured me to become who I am today. Through SolBridge, I not only gained valuable knowledge from professionals and supportive professors who shared with us their experiences during their lectures but at the same time SolBridge has also acted as a multicultural bridge where I was able to interact with students from different countries and cultures. Learning different cultures and languages has always been an interest for me and SolBridge definitely provided me with this platform and environment of interaction for international experience. SolBridge filled my university life not only with academic knowledge and achievement but also with excitement, fun, and laughter.

Eliza Young, BBA Student, Spring graduate 2013, Indonesia, Working at LG in Singapore in Finance Department

In only 30 years, Korea set itself from one of the poorest countries in the world to being one of the most dynamic economic countries and is playing a leading role along with China, Japan, and India as one of Asia’s flagships in the world economy. SolBridge has just started, but in my experiences there, SolBridge is growing just like their nation did. SolBridge balances the concepts of eastern and western thought through its vision as an ‘Asian Center of Excellence in Global Business Education’ and mission ‘Educating the Next Generation of Asian Thought Leaders’. SolBridge educated me in the ways of the globalized economy. SolBridge also offered us a vast number of amazing speakers through their Platinum Lecture Series. It was very interesting to hear their experiences and thoughts, which I could relate to several points in my classes and apply to my own personal philosophy. Classes at SolBridge use a ton of case analysis but most of the material is derived from the everyday global business market. I am so proud to be a SolBridger.

Pomchai Seewongngam, MBA student, Spring graduate 2013, Thailand, The founder of SEA Business World and UnoGoods

SolBridge is very unique in terms of its social and academic environment because it brings together nations and cultures from all across the world. The international character of SolBridge and strategic location facilitated my integration into the international workplace. Likewise, the teaching environment with its modern facilities was very attractive as well. The professors' academic and professional experience was really inspiring, as they often considered us as their colleagues rather than their students. The way the courses were conducted by the professors was really motivating and made the dialogue and exchanges between us more productive. The different activities organized by SolBridge were very thoughtful and much appreciated by the students. I am really grateful to have had the opportunity to study in one of the leading business schools in Asia.

Alibek Zhubekov, BBA Graduate 2013, Kazakhstan

My SolBridge life was full of fun; for three and half years I studied at SolBridge and it changed me a lot. I like the multicultural environment there, everyone smiles in the same language. Besides, SolBridge provided us a lot of part-time opportunities to improve our personal abilities. For instance, the Teaching Assistant position helped me to improve my skills to deal with different kinds of problems, while the peer Group Leader experience gave me a chance to practice my leadership skills. I really appreciate these experiences which assisted me in my job hunt. SolBridge also opened various club activities after class to allow us to share our interests and meet new friends. I am proud to have been able to study at SolBridge and proud to be a SolBridger!

Mei Yin, BBA Graduate, 2013 December, Samsung D'light VIP Relations, Public Relation

I had such a wonderful time during my study at SolBridge. Interacting with friends, professors, and administrators from all over the world opened my eyes to different cultures. The classrooms, library, and lounges in the school were nice and pleasant, and between classes I would go to the gym or swimming pool. It was perfect environment for my student life, and I could focus on learning and exploring. All these experiences helped me to be comfortable in global context, and flexible and confident in the face of new challenges.

Hajin Lee, BBA Graduate, August 2013, Secretary General of the International Go Federation (IGF)

My name is Alesya, and I graduated from SolBridge in 2012. My major was International Business, but in SolBridge I met great professors who inspired me to go into HR field. I started my HR path at SolBridge by visiting extra classes on CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning & Performance), after my graduation I moved to Moscow where I began as HR Assistant in a big IT company (Epicor). I also worked in Wolters Kluwer as HR Specialist, and now I am HR Business Partner in pharmaceuticals managing such fields as compensation and benefits, HR operations, talent management and special projects on merger and acquisition in Russia and CIS countries.

SolBridge is a great start for professionals; it really helps to understand diversity, communications, how different people behave and work together. It also helped me to understand how international business works in practice, as you find students and professors from all over the world who share their knowledge and expertise and different views, so it helps you to be more diverse and open to the world. Also, SolBridge gives you the never ending friendship; I have met so many different people from around the world who I still keep in touch with today.

I am of Pakistani descent but I was born and raised in Nigeria. In 2009, I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Information Systems from the American University in Nigeria and moved to South Korea where I pursued an MBA at SolBridge. I worked in South Korea for 5 years after graduating from SolBridge in 2011. I am presently in Canada doing a Masters in Recreation and Leisure studies with a focus on Tourism at the University of Waterloo, Department of Applied Health Sciences. The University of Waterloo (UW) is among Canada’s top 7 universities and has been consecutively ranked as Canada’s most innovative university for the last 25 years. UW also ranks among the top ten tourism research institutions in the world. UW was recently ranked #1 in Canada, #6 in North America and #13 globally in the area of Hospitality & Leisure Management by the QS World University Rankings. The faculty at the Recreation and Leisure department is one of the best in North America in terms of its contribution to research in that field. I am very thankful to God for giving me the opportunity to be part of this wonderful community.

I am also thankful for the education I got at SolBridge which prepared me for my studies at UW. My degree at SolBridge equipped me with problem-solving and decision-making skills that were instrumental during my 5-year professional career at SolBridge where my desire to pursue a degree in Tourism was birthed. SolBridge’s learning environment was unique and vibrant. I got to interact with people from very diverse backgrounds and cultures which helped further develop my appreciation for diversity. The internships that I participated in while at SolBridge helped to build me up professionally and personally. It was a blessing to have studied and worked at SolBridge. I would encourage students at SolBridge to make the most of their experience while at SolBridge and take it as an opportunity to prepare for their future endeavors.more than happy

Naima Samuel, MBA Graduate, Spring 2011, Master of Arts, Recreation and Leisure Studies, University of Waterloo

After my graduation, I joined Samsung C&T Corporation for five months on an internship. After an intense and robust selection process of over 1000 candidates, I was glad to have made it among the six candidates. After my internship, I was offered an opportunity to work at the Headquarters in Seoul; however, I preferred to go back to my home country, Kazakhstan and work on one of the Samsung C&T projects. I am currently the Project Development Manager for the JSC “Balkhash TPP.” SolBridge is a great foundation for all the international students in Korea. You can successfully find great internship opportunities while you are at SolBridge. Remember, always be focused and always keep in touch with Career Development Center! All the best!

Anastassiya Nogay, MBA Graduate, Project Development Manager, JSC "Balkhash TPP"

“My time at SolBridge was priceless. After 3 and a half years, I grew up to become a lot more confident in drafting my career plan and expectation. Now that I have joined the business world, doing real jobs, I realize how valuable those classes at SolBridge are to business students. Classes at SolBridge are designed to train real business people. All the courses are highly informative and assignments are very applicable. Thanks to both the hard and soft skills I learned from classes and club activities, I adapted super-fast to the job I was offered even though I entered the company as an inexperienced employee. One extra spice that makes SolBridge a great choice is the living environment: Daejeon is a beautiful and peaceful city to live. SolBridge makes it comfortable and convenient for all foreign students to enjoy life in Korea despite the fact that most of us arrive with a limited ability to understand the Korean language. Looking back at my university life, I have to say my time at SolBridge remains as one of the most game-changing factors in my life. I am very happy to have made the best out of it and hope many others will find their time at SolBridge to be meaningful like I did.

(Sandy) Thanh Tran Nguyen, BBA, Vietnam

“Pursuing an MBA degree at SolBridge was a big decision and challenge, and now it has become a great record in my life. I was one among those people who have never thought of even graduating from a bachelor’s degree. Through my studies, I have acquired wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Every single minute has been a great lesson and memorable experience. Taking classes, sharing ideas, and discussing many different theories, collaborating in group projects, and having fun together have all been an unforgettable experience for me. All the courses that I took have allowed me to critically absorb the main concepts not only for business but also for my daily life. Marketing, strategic management, economics, and international business, at the end of the day, they all have created a special combination of how I learn to define my competitive advantage, trade-off for my priorities, manage my time more efficiently, cultivate the right strategy to pursue my vision, and to appreciate other cultures… all thanks to SolBridge.”
