National Health Insurance Policy for International Students in Korea

As a result of the new Korean Government Regulation, effective February 28th, 2021, all foreign residents in Korea will automatically be registered to the National Health Insurance. All international students are required to make a monthly payment of 56,525 KRW (This is a 50% student discount from the initial amount of 113,050 KRW).

This payment applies to all students (D2 and D4 visa holders) including regular, transfer or exchange students. The policy seeks to provide equal medical services to everyone residing in Korea, both Koreans and foreigners.

Students leaving Korea for more than one month can terminate the service and renew it upon re-entry to Korea.

If you have any questions please contact National Health Insurance Service by calling 033-811-200 or visiting the National Health Insurance Service website http://www.nhis.or.kr/static/html/wbd/g/a/wbdga0101.html

Please note:

The enrollment and Orientation fees are a one-time fee paid by all first semester students (freshmen and transfer). Orientation fees cover for the meals and accommodation during our Team Building (Orientation) week and do not include bus fare from the airport.

Residence does not provide bedding, sheets, or pillows.

All first-year students (freshman and transfer) must get an Alien Registration Card upon arrival in Korea. Korean Immigration charges $31 for the Alien Registration Card. It is similar to the Korean ID card and must be carried with you at all times.

The above prices are meant to act as a guideline and are subject to change, especially adjustments to Residence and Health Care.

Scholarships are available, please enquire.

The costs provided do not include other meals, books, or pocket money. Meals cost approximately $4.00 in the SolBridge cafeterias. Meals eaten off-campus may cost more. Books are typically in the range of $600 per year; pocket money expense is dependent upon the lifestyle of the student.
