From July 19 to July 26, 2026, SolBridge International School of Business had the pleasure of hosting students from the Okinawa School of Foreign Languages (Gaigo) in Japan for an eight-day English camp centered on writing, presentation skills, and Korean culture.

Day 1–2: Arrival and a Warm Welcome

Students arrived in Daejeon on Day 1 and checked into the dormitory. The program began in earnest on Day 2, opening with a campus tour led by Prof. Gilbert Tumibay and a formal welcome from Honorary President Deog-Seong Oh, followed by an introduction to Woosong University from Prof. Hee Kwon Lee. Students then dove into their first lecture with Prof. Martin Sketchley, covering the basics of writing, before an afternoon session on planning and designing infographics. The day wrapped up with an icebreaker session and an evening out in Eunhaeng-dong, Old Downtown Daejeon.

Day 3–4: Presentations and Korean Traditions

Day 3 brought a lecture on the fundamentals of a good presentation, followed by a Korean culture experience featuring a hanbok and tea ceremony along with a Korean craft activity. On Day 4, students learned how to give a small group presentation before heading to Chansaem Village for a cooking class, where they made tteokbokki and mini kimbap, followed by free time in the afternoon.

Day 5: Individual Presentations and a Closing Ceremony

The final day of lectures was the busiest of the week. Students spent the morning planning and preparing an individual presentation, then delivered it in the afternoon to peers and instructors for feedback. Prof. Kimura Azusa followed with an introduction to the Woosong University Transfer Program, giving students a look at future study options in Korea, before the day closed with a certificate ceremony hosted by Dean Hsing Huang.

Day 6–7: Jeonju, Cafés, and Downtown Daejeon

With lectures complete, the group spent Day 6 on a trip to Jeonju Hanok Village, one of Korea's best-known traditional neighborhoods. Day 7 began with free time in the morning, followed by a café tour through Soje-dong and a visit to Dunsan-dong, Daejeon's newer downtown district, for shopping and dinner.

Day 8: Departure

On Day 8, students checked out of the dormitory and departed for Incheon Airport, heading home to Okinawa with new English skills, a certificate marking their achievement, and a week of experiences in Korea to remember. SolBridge extends its sincere thanks to the Okinawa School of Foreign Languages for this partnership, and looks forward to welcoming students from Gaigo again in future summers.
